Entry from: Stockholm, Sweden Entry Title: "The self-styled capital of Scandinavia" Entry: "Stockholm was different from most of the places we go, because when we arrived we had expectations based not just on our own research. Ben's father's partner is Swedish, and one of our friends went on a Europe trip last year and came home raving about Stockholm. Usually when we arrive we don't know what a place will be like, but this time if it was terrible we would be extra disappointed. Not that it was anywhere near terrible! Our hostel was quite good and very central, and for the first time in a dorm we were the only ones sleeping there the whole time we stayed. There were lots of other people in the hostel, possibly a large school group because lots of them looked like teenagers, so we were lucky to have it to ourselves! It was almost like having a private room without paying for one, except for the bunk beds.... I swear, when we get home, I will never, ever sleep in a bunk bed again! And the one we got assigned didn't have any safety railing on the top bunk (although the other two did) so I tried very hard not to roll over much at night! Breaking bones is not on my priority list. But the beds were larger than are usual for bunks and came with lovely warm quilts and sheets so we were happy. We have to ...
